Evansville man killed in Warrick County crash with semi-truck

EVANSVILLE — The driver of a semi-truck reportedly failed to heed a stop sign along an Interstate 69 exit ramp in Warrick County on Monday before colliding with an SUV, killing its driver.

On Wednesday, the Warrick County Coroner's Office publicly identified the deceased motorist as 78-year-old Ronald C. Hall, of Evansville. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The Indiana State Police described the fatal incident in a brief news release. The agency publicly identified the semi-truck driver as Aziz Ermatov, 28, of California, writing that Ermatov allegedly failed to heed a stop sign near the I-69 exit ramp to Indiana 68.

Ermatov's semi-truck then collided with a GMC Terrain SUV driven by Hall, according to the ISP. "Both vehicles caught fire after impact," the ISP news release states.

Ermatov was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital after the crash but was later released, Warrick County Deputy Coroner Alissa Enright said.

"An autopsy is scheduled for (Thursday) at 11 a.m.," Enright wrote in a release. "The Indiana State Police are still investigating the cause of the accident."
