Among those indicted were: • William Joseph Jr., 33, Wauseon, for strangulation, a fourth-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. • Thomas Skiver, 34, Archbold, for menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony. • Laurie Elek, 45, Wauseon, for theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Bohdi Davis, 22, address unavailable, pleaded not guilty to three counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, each a second-degree felony; importuning, a fifth-degree felony; and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for June 10 and his bond was continued. Esther Gomez, 72, Stryker, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and was granted treatment in lieu of conviction. WAUSEON — A Fayette man admitted to several misdemeanor charges here in Fulton County Common Pleas Court alleging that he caused the traffic deaths of three persons. Adon Glass, 21, pleaded no contest to three counts of vehicular manslaughter, each a second-degree misdemeanor, and he was found guilty of each. Garrett Schroeder, 19, Ottawa, appeared for sentencing on three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, one a fourth-degree felony, the other two first-degree misdemeanors; illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony; and menacing by stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was given a 75-month prison term with credit for 61 days served in jail while his case was pending. Douglas Marihugh, 27, pleaded not guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony with a firearm specification and specification for the forfeiture of a weapon; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and using weapons while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was given a prison term of four years, 11 months to six years and 11 months with credit for 58 days served in jail while his case was pending, and ordered to pay $21 restitution to the victim. Local man arrested on rape charge alleging child sexual abuse
An Defiance man was arrested this week on a rape charge alleging that he engaged in sexual conduct with a child. Manuel Canales, 24, 06609 Ohio 66, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office and charged with rape, a first-degree felony. Canales made an initial appearance Friday in Defiance Municipal Court where bond was set at $500,000 cash and he received a court-appointed attorney. He is scheduled to return to court on Monday and was being held Friday in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. According to Defiance County Prosecutor Morris Murray, a county grand jury will hear his case on Tuesday. Additional charges are possible, he noted, as this was an “ongoing course of conduct,” Murray explained. The child’s age was under at least the age 13 when the conduct occurred, he indicated.
Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville posts closure notice
HICKSVILLE — Community Memorial Hospital here has announced what it is describing as a temporary suspension of operations. The hospital posted on its Facebook page Thursday that it “is temporarily suspending operations” at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. “We are pursuing all avenues to restore operations and keep services available in the community,” the post added. The decision comes after months of concern — some of it aired in public meetings — voiced by hospital officials about the medical facility’s financial future. For example, during a Defiance County commissioners meeting in February, one hospital official had noted an unsuccessful attempt to secure a large line of credit through the lending industry. The hospital also had made inquires about the extension of a line through the commissioners, but this was not acted upon.
Swanton man arrested in Henry County on high-level cocaine charge
NAPOLEON — A Swanton man was arrested at his workplace near here this week and charged with a high-level cocaine trafficking charges with others possible later. Andrew Moll, 40, is charged with trafficking cocaine, a first-degree felony. Moll had an initial hearing in Napoleon Municipal Court where bond was set at $300,000 with a 10% allowance provision.
