WAUSEON — A Fulton County grand jury has returned a number of indictments, according to Prosecutor T. Luke Jones’ office. Among those indicted were: • William Joseph Jr., 33, Wauseon, for strangulation, a fourth-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. • Thomas Skiver, 34, Archbold, for menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony. • Laurie Elek, 45, Wauseon, for theft, a fifth-degree felony.
Williams common pleas
Bohdi Davis, 22, address unavailable, pleaded not guilty to three counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, each a second-degree felony; importuning, a fifth-degree felony; and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for June 10 and his bond was continued. Esther Gomez, 72, Stryker, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and was granted treatment in lieu of conviction. She was placed under supervision for three years and required to follow the intervention plan.
Fayette man enters plea to misdemeanor charges related to crash that took three lives
WAUSEON — A Fayette man admitted to several misdemeanor charges here in Fulton County Common Pleas Court alleging that he caused the traffic deaths of three persons. Adon Glass, 21, pleaded no contest to three counts of vehicular manslaughter, each a second-degree misdemeanor, and he was found guilty of each. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. ...

Adelina Rosalez, 23, Fayette, appeared for sentencing on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. She was placed on community control for three years with conditions, including that she complete the Serenity Haven program. Dylan Hall, 28, Wauseon, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. ...
Putnam common pleas
Garrett Schroeder, 19, Ottawa, appeared for sentencing on three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, one a fourth-degree felony, the other two first-degree misdemeanors; illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony; and menacing by stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was given a 75-month prison term with credit for 61 days served in jail while his case was pending. Douglas Marihugh, 27, pleaded not guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony with a firearm specification and specification for the forfeiture of a weapon; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and using weapons while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for June 18 and his bond was continued.

Joseph Breece, 50, Deshler, appeared for sentencing on charges of strangulation, a third-degree felony; and endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was placed on community control for two years with conditions, including that he obtain an assessment from the Center for Child and Family Advocacy, and follow treatment recommendations. Montize Carter, 27, Napoleon, appeared for sentencing on a charge of falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was fined $150 and given 180 days in jail with credit for 165 days served while his case was pending. ...

Kobe Cutlip, 19, Melrose, appeared for sentencing on a charge of burglary, a second-degree felony; and theft, a fifth-degree felony. He was given a prison term of four years, 11 months to six years and 11 months with credit for 58 days served in jail while his case was pending, and ordered to pay $21 restitution to the victim. According to Prosecutor Morris Murray’s office, Cutlip and a co-defendant, Clinton Vanscoder, trespassed in a residence on Defiance’s Darbyshire Drive on Jan. 9 to commit a theft offense. ...
Local man arrested on rape charge alleging child sexual abuse
An Defiance man was arrested this week on a rape charge alleging that he engaged in sexual conduct with a child. Manuel Canales, 24, 06609 Ohio 66, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office and charged with rape, a first-degree felony. Canales made an initial appearance Friday in Defiance Municipal Court where bond was set at $500,000 cash and he received a court-appointed attorney. He is scheduled to return to court on Monday and was being held Friday in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. According to Defiance County Prosecutor Morris Murray, a county grand jury will hear his case on Tuesday. Additional charges are possible, he noted, as this was an “ongoing course of conduct,” Murray explained. The child’s age was under at least the age 13 when the conduct occurred, he indicated.
Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville posts closure notice
HICKSVILLE — Community Memorial Hospital here has announced what it is describing as a temporary suspension of operations. The hospital posted on its Facebook page Thursday that it “is temporarily suspending operations” at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. “We are pursuing all avenues to restore operations and keep services available in the community,” the post added. The decision comes after months of concern — some of it aired in public meetings — voiced by hospital officials about the medical facility’s financial future. For example, during a Defiance County commissioners meeting in February, one hospital official had noted an unsuccessful attempt to secure a large line of credit through the lending industry. The hospital also had made inquires about the extension of a line through the commissioners, but this was not acted upon.
Swanton man arrested in Henry County on high-level cocaine charge
NAPOLEON — A Swanton man was arrested at his workplace near here this week and charged with a high-level cocaine trafficking charges with others possible later. Andrew Moll, 40, is charged with trafficking cocaine, a first-degree felony. Moll had an initial hearing in Napoleon Municipal Court where bond was set at $300,000 with a 10% allowance provision. Derrick Flores, 36, 1539 Terrawenda Drive, pleaded guilty to vandalism, a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was modified to personal-recognizance. Sentencing was scheduled for July 11. Yolanda Jones, 31, Indianapolis, pleaded guilty to OVI, a first-degree misdemeanor. She was placed on probation for two years, fined $1,075 fine and ordered to forfeit a seized firearm. Joseph Taylor, 21, Stryker (CCNO) pleaded guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. Sentencing was scheduled for June 4.
Edgerton man indicted on 11 drug-related charges in Williams County court
BRYAN — A Williams County grand jury here has returned 11 charges against an Edgerton man who was found in possession of large amounts of narcotics during a recent investigation by the Multi-Area arcotics Unit. Peter Moses, 47, is charged with five counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, first- and second-degree felonies, including one charge with a major drug offender specification; four counts of possession of drugs, first- and second-degree felonies; trafficking in cocaine, a first-degree felony; and possession of cocaine, a first-degree felony. Several specifications are included in the indictment which include the possibility of the forfeiture of money and an automobile that were seized following the months-long investigation. Authorities seized 26 1/2 ounces of methamphetamine and about two ounces of cocaine during a search of Moses’ residence on May 1.

James Velasquez, 26, 609 Grover Ave., appeared for sentencing on four counts of importuning, each a fifth-degree felony. He was given a 39-month prison term with credit for two days served in jail while his case was pending. He also was classified as a Tier I sexual offender and his vehicle was ordered forfeited. Gale Davis, 58, Ohio 66, appeared for sentencing on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and was placed on community control for two years. Antonio Briseno, 61, 1908 Riverview Drive, pleaded guilty to four counts of violating a protection order, each a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. Sentencing was scheduled for June 27. Kobe Cutlip, 19, Paulding, pleaded guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony; and theft, a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. PAULDING — A Paulding County grand jury has returned indictments against six persons, according to Prosecutor Joe Burkard’s office. A Michigan man has been given a hefty sentence in Defiance County Common Pleas Court for trying to run over an acquaintance in 2022 during an argument. Judge Joseph Schmenk sentenced Garry Pond II, 37, Cassopolis, Mich., to a six- to nine-year prison term on two counts of felonious assault, each a second-degree felony. NAPOLEON — A preliminary hearing has been continued for a Metamora man charged with intentionally striking a house near Liberty Center several times last week with his vehicle, then causing minor injuries to two investigating sheriff’s deputies. VAN WERT — A Defiance woman has been arraigned here in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court on two attempted murder charges and five other felonies.
