Three Renovators who are Rebuilding a better Gary
Cory Armand, Joseph Peterson, and Deanna Johnson have at least two things in common: they are young Garyites rebuilding their city one house at a time and belong to the networking group Northwest Indiana Creative Investors Association (NICIA). The trio of private investors has renovated more than 80 homes in Gary, more than the 48 the local government recently tore down in the Aetna neighborhood, and the 16 apartments at 700 Broadway in the city’s downtown area.
Department of Revenue reminds taxpayers that April 15 filing deadline is quickly approaching
Taxpayers encouraged to use IDOR’s free, enhanced tax-filing system. The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is reminding taxpayers that the upcoming deadline is quickly approaching for filing 2023 state individual income tax returns. The agency has been collecting and processing returns since the 2024 tax season officially began on January 29 and the deadline is Monday, April 15, 2024.

In the gospel of Mark, as in all four gospels, it is the women who first make their way to the tomb that held Jesus’ body. You see, Black women have been showing up for Black people for a very long time. And Black women here in the gospel show up for Jesus despite the threat and danger that was on their lives. The men were hiding in a room because they feared the Jewish aristocracy was looking for anyone who had supported Jesus, to kill them too.
No transcripts found when Judge sealed key document in Maggette case
On August 1, 2017, a court order was filed in the Dashonn Maggette case. The order was stamped with Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown’s stamp. The document says all parties were present, but a Crusader investigation found no transcripts or evidence that show the wrongfully convicted man or his public defender were present when Judge Lawrence Flood ordered a ban on releasing a key document that can clear Maggette’s name.

Gary officials announce major drug busts, tout decrease in crime rates
