    Cullman City Council holds water, sewer, sanitation rates steady for 2nd year

    CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council voted on Monday to hold the city’s water, sewer and sanitation rates at their current levels for residential customers.
    “For the second year in a row, we are going to be able to waive the inflation adjustment, so there’ll be no increase in water or sewer, sanitation for residential customers this coming year,” said Councilman and Utilities Committee Chairman David Moss.
    The council also approved resolutions to:
    • Renew a three-year lease agreement with United Way of Cullman County for a property at 104 Austin Ave. SW near Art Park; United Way previously occupied the old Cullman Depot
    • Renew its contract with Air Evac for City employees and their families
    • Apply for matching Alabama Department of Transportation grant funds for the hangar taxi lane rehabilitation project at Cullman Regional Airport
    • Adopt the transportation plan pursuant to the Rebuild Alabama Act for FY2025. The resolution estimated that the City’s allocation from the Rebuild Alabama Act fund for the first fiscal year will be approximately $112,328.51, with increasing allocations for each fiscal year after that. The resolution listed, but according to the council was not limited to, “any of the following listed projects:”
    o Daisy Street Northwest
    o Pecan Avenue Northwest
    o Edgewood Street Northwest
    o Edgewood Drive Northwest
    o Woodland Street Northwest
    o David Drive Northwest
    o Shelia Avenue Northwest
    o Rose Street Northwest
    o Manor Drive Northeast
    o Brentwood Drive Northeast
    o Brentwood Court Northeast
    o Chateau Drive Northeast
    o Briarcliff Road Northeast
    o Larkwood Drive Northeast
    o Larkwood Court Northeast
    Additionally, the council approved special event requests:
    • From Dawn Beard of Destiny Church to hold a Cullman County Youth Prayer Event at Depot Park on Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.
    • From Keith Ellard of Sacred Heart Church to hold a 150th Anniversary Celebration Parish Picnic Oct. 19–20, 2024, at 6 p.m.
    The Cullman City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Cullman City Hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
