Gold Beach, Bookings-Harbor see placers at State Track

Gold Beach had a pair of state champions in the Class 2A state track meet Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Korben Storns won the discus with a throw of 149 feet, 4 inches.

Nelson Wilstead took the javelin with a heave of 172-2.

Storns also finished fourth in the shot put on Thursday (42-0 ¾).

Gold Beach was 10th in the team race.

BROOKINGS-HARBOR

The Bruins had one placer each for the girls and the boys in the Class 3A meet.

Lexie Newman was seventh in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:00.95.

Peter Goode was seventh in the 800, finishing in 2:03.18.
