Despite a lot of tidal flooding in low-lying areas of Elizabeth City area on Friday, only one road in Pasquotank County — Weeksville Road near Sawmill Park in the county's southern end — was closed as of Friday evening.

The N.C. Department of Transportation closed the road Friday afternoon because of flooding.

Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management Coordinator Brian Parnell said Friday evening that, other than some streets in low-lying areas of Elizabeth City, there were no other reports of road closings in the county. City workers on Friday posted some barricades in the area of Southern Avenue and Shepard Street where high water from flooding usually requires street closings.

Parnell said late Friday there had been no reports of evacuations from homes or vehicles being trapped because of high water in low-lying areas.

Parnell said the flood waters in low-lying areas were expected to recede with no rain forecast for either Saturday and Sunday. But he noted that, because of the current weather pattern over the region, rain is again forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
