For the third straight week, there has been chaos among teams ranked inside the top 10 of the college football polls.

LSU football, contrarily, has remained steady and therefore, for the third consecutive weeks, is moving up in the rankings.

Brian Kelly and the Tigers (6-1, 3-0 SEC) entered a really tough spot in their schedule in Week 8. They came off an emotional, thrilling overtime win against Ole Miss at home and then had to pack up the show and head to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the Razorbacks , who were rested off an off week. Arkansas had also just knocked off then No. 8 Tennessee, 19-14, at home before the off week.

Despite the situation going against it, LSU controlled the game against the Hogs for most of the night and pulled away for the 34-10 victory inside Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The Tigers were led by their defense, which has given up 19 points in their last six quarters plus an overtime possession, and by freshman running back Caden Durham, who tallied three touchdowns on the ground to go along with his 101 rushing yards on 21 carries.

    LSU rankings update

Because of Alabama's loss at Tennessee, LSU was able to slide up one spot in the USC LBM Coaches Poll to No. 7, the highest rankings it's had this season. The Tigers face No. 14 Texas A&M this Saturday in College Station in a game that'll decide who owns the top spot in the Southeastern Conference as the season nears November. The Crimson Tide remain in the top 15 at No. 15 and LSU and the Tide will renew their rivalry following the Tigers' off week.
