Somerset County SCA for Drug and Alcohol is offering a free Family Recovery eight-week online course for residents who are affected by another’s substance use disorder/addiction.

The course will be taught by BALM (Be A Loving Mirror) coach Stacey Karchner who has been helping families for more than seven years. Karchner trained to become a BALM Family Recovery Life Coach and help other families get to BALM. The course Karchner will be teaching is a component of the BALM year program consisting of 12 lessons. Lessons include topics such as The Crucial Role of the Family, Boundaries and Leverage, How to Help Motivate Change, Enabling vs Helping, Respond vs React, Mindfulness and more.

Family members find a new perspective and learn new ways of acting, being and speaking without anger and judgment, becoming their loved one’s best chance at recovery.

The course starts Aug. 21 by Zoom platform and will be held weekly from 5:45-8 p.m. for eight weeks. Those who enroll are mailed the materials. For every single person who abuses drugs, 4-10 others are impacted. To find out more about the course or to enroll email skarchner9@gmailcom or call 814-360-7590.
