Conference changes and realignment created intriguing matchups for Somerset County football teams a year ago.

There will not be that level of unfamiliarity this season. New rivalries have been created while familiar foes remain the game of the year for some Somerset County programs .

Here is a look at the games to circle on the calendar involving Somerset County teams in 2024:

Players to watch Meet the 2024 top 30 Daily American Somerset County football players to watch

    Week 3, Sept 6

    Meyersdale at North Star

North Star won the last four meetings between the two programs. However, Meyersdale will be much better this season. Both teams were made the postseason for the first time in a long time last year. It will be an interesting matchup with two contrasting styles of offense on display.

Team schedules Plan ahead to the 2024 Somerset County football season with all six teams' schedules

    Week 4, Sept. 13

    Berlin Brothersvalley at Connellsville

Berlin filled an opening in its schedule by adding Class 5A Connellsville. The Mountaineers have never shied away from playing bigger programs. This will be a quality non-conference game for Berlin with its new-look offense on display. Connellsville went 5-5 last season playing in the WPIAL 4A but opted into an independent schedule.

    Meyersdale at Windber

Windber plays three teams that all had losing records a year ago before its contest against Meyersdale. The Ramblers will likely be 3-0 entering the game, and if the Red Raiders can knock off North Star the week prior, it will potentially set up a matchup of unbeatens. Meyersdale has not defeated Windber since 2019. The Red Raiders will learn a lot about themselves against the Ramblers.

    Week 5, Sept. 20

    Somerset at McCort-Carroll

If Somerset wants to be a playoff team, this is a must-win game. With winnable contests against Greater Johnstown and Westmont Hilltop the two weeks prior, Somerset has an opportunity to enter the second half of the season with a winning record. The Golden Eagles and Crushers have split their last four meetings.

    Week 6, Sept. 27

    Berlin Brothersvalley at Meyersdale

This game doesn't need any hype. Throw out the record books when these two rivals get together. This game will be smashmouth football on display. Meyersdale hung with Berlin through the first half of last year's contest. The Red Raiders' last win against the Mountaineers came in 2019.

    Week 8, Oct. 11

    Berlin Brothersvalley at Windber

This has quickly become the best rivalry in Somerset County. With both programs having so much success as of late, it's a game both programs and communities highlight prior to the season. There may not be a ton of passes thrown in this game with both squads relying on their rushing attacks and big offensive lines. Berlin won the last two meetings, but the Ramblers topped the Mountaineers twice in 2021.

    Week 9, Oct. 18

    Conemaugh Township at Conemaugh Valley

Conemaugh Valley edged Conemaugh Township in the final seconds last season. The two former WestPAC programs struggled in their first year in the Heritage Conference. Conemaugh Township coach Brandon Studer is a Conemaugh Valley alum, which adds another element to the rivalry.

    Rip's picks Week 1

    Berlin Brothersvalley 28, Claysburg-Kimmel 15

Conemaugh Township 16, West Shamokin 14

    Meyersdale 34, Curwensville 28

North Star 22, Moshannon Valley 12

    Windber 48, Glendale 13

    Chestnut Ridge 27, Somerset 20
