All charges were held for trial this week against a Jenners man who authorities have accused of opening fire on an Acosta residence.

At Joseph Paruch's preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Susan Mankamyer of Boswell, Somerset County District Attorney Molly Metzgar added attempted criminal homicide of an unborn child and aggravated assault of an unborn child to the already pending charges, including attempted homicide.

According to court documents, Paruch, 37, fired at least 29 rounds from a rifle, into and around the house. Both homeowners, one of which was pregnant, were on the porch.

All the charges were held and the case was sent to Somerset County Court. Paruch now faces the following offenses: attempted criminal homicide of an unborn child, aggravated assault of an unborn child, two counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment and one count each of criminal mischief and possessing an Instrument of crime.

Why: Jenners man charged with attempted homicide in shooting incident

Paruch's attorney, David Leake of Somerset, had filed a motion to reduce his $250,000 bond set at his arraignment. But the judge denied the motion. Paruch remains behind bars in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.“Although we are certainly awaiting additional evidence to determine whether additional charges and even additional defendants are warranted in this shooting, it should be clear that continuously firing an entire magazine of ammunition into someone’s house while a pregnant woman is present on the porch, will not be tolerated in Somerset County,” Metzgar wrote in a statement.
