DAVIDSVILLE — Cameron Dunn returned the opening kickoff 90 yards, and Conemaugh Township never looked back giving head coach Brandon Studer his first win as a head coach in a 42-0 drubbing of West Shamokin on Friday.

“We have been on the other side, and we used that as motivation in the offseason,” said Studer.

Senior quarterback Sam Shaffer led Conemaugh Township with 100 all-purpose yards to go with four touchdowns, while also recovering a fumble.

“It feels incredible to get coach his first win and give coach the game ball,” said Shaffer. “We had a rough season last year, and this is only one win.”

Dunn took the opening kickoff at his own 10-yard line and raced up the middle of the field untouched for a 90-yard kickoff return. Gentry Sotosky added the PAT for a 7-0 lead just seconds into the game.

Conemaugh Township's Luke Weber picked off West Shamokin quarterback Ryan Booher to set up the offense at the 26-yard line.

On the next play, Shaffer fumbled the snap, but alertly picked it up and ran untouched for the 26-yard score to make it 14-0.

“It was supposed to be a pass play,” said Shaffer. “The snap was low, and I didn’t think I had time to throw it, so I just took off.”

The first play from scrimmage following the ensuing kickoff resulted in an errant snap and fell in the West Shamokin backfield. Shaffer pounced on the loose ball and Conemaugh Township took over.

Backup quarterback Greyson Studer hit Brennan Lohr for a long gain inside the 5-yard line. Then, Shaffer called his own number from four yards out to increase Conemaugh Township's lead to 21-0.

Conemaugh Township blew the game wide open on its next possession. Shaffer hit D.J. Bambino for a 35-yard touchdown strike.

Shaffer added another touchdown pass to Dunn from 17 yards out on the next for a 35-0 lead at the half.

The running clock was in effect for the entire second half. Cohen Stahl added the final score of the night on a 7-yard run to set the final.
