Astoria has been dropped as a defendant in a $9.4 million lawsuit by an insurer for Buoy Beer Co. over the partial collapse of the brewery into the Columbia River in 2022.

Mt. Hawley Insurance Co., a Peoria, Illinois, firm that insured Buoy Beer, initially claimed Rickenbach Construction, Stricker Engineering, Columbia Dockworks and the city recognized the imminent danger at the building along the waterfront but failed to warn the brewery.
