    Drought officially ends in Lincoln County, more rain on the way

    BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County is officially out of a drought according to the US National Drought Monitor in Lincoln, Nebraska. According to the National Weather Service office in Jackson, nearly 5 inches of rain have fallen this February and 12.57 inches of rain have fallen since January 1, 2024.

    For the third weekend in a row, sunny skies during the week will be followed by rain over the weekend. Friday is forecast to have a chance of rain.

    NWS Jackson forecasts a 20 percent chance of rain Friday with wind gusts reaching 20 mph out of the south. The high will be 67 tomorrow while the low will drop to 40 Friday night.

    The greatest chance of rain is Friday night with a 60 percent chance. Rain is likely between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. while showers could come after 4 a.m. Saturday. The high Saturday is 46 with a 20 percent chance of rain until noon.

    Saturday night’s low will drop all the way down to 30 degrees. Sounds like a good night for chili or soup.

    Sunday is forecast to be sunny with the high reaching 56. Monday, or President’s Day, will reach a high of 64. Tuesday will reach a high of 69 and Wednesday will reach a high of 74.
