    Lincoln County will celebrate ribbon cutting before monthly school board meeting

    BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County School District will celebrate its new central office home at Linbrook Business Park with a ribbon cutting Tuesday. Following the ribbon cutting, the School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m.

    Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce states the ribbon cutting will be at 5 p.m. on 702 New Saints Trail NW. School board will meet afterwards and will begin with an invocation, approval of the agenda, minutes. Superintendent David Martin’s will give a report according to the agenda.

    Special recognition will follow as February is Board Appreciation Month.

    The first business item on the agenda is from the Central Office looking at an agreement with Orkin for pest control services at the new building. This contract with Orkin would include initial treatment and monthly treatments.

    Board members will hear recommendations from Richelle Ratcliff, Assistant Superintendent, to approve a memorandum of agreement with Delta State University regarding student teachers for 2023 to 2024. Additionally, she will present the 2024-2025 calendar for the district.

    Sam Stewart will present a family medical leave request, disposal of fixed assets and destruction of records in accordance with a schedule set by the State of Mississippi. Stewart serves as the school district’s finance director.

    Kenneth Wallace, technology director, will request approval to advertise for bids for network switch equipment. Robin Case, CTE Director and Federal Programs Coordinator, will request the approval of implementing a Work Based Learning Program at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center. She will also request the approval of work based learning I and II courses at Bogue Chitto, Enterprise, Loyd Star and West Lincoln Attendance Centers.

    The board will hear recommendations from Luke Addison, 16th Section Land Manager, and Lincoln County Forester Steven Williams about residential lease for 16th section land and tree planting.
