2024 Presidential Primary: Vote today, or vote Tuesday

Today, Saturday, March 9, is the final day for in-person absentee voting for the March 12 Presidential Primary Election.

Circuit Clerk offices are open 8 a.m. until noon in every Mississippi county. The office of Lincoln County Circuit Clerk Dustin Bairfield is located at 301 S. First St., Brookhaven, room 205.

On Tuesday, March 12, polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Anyone who lives in an area of Brookhaven that was affected by 2023’s redistricting should have received a card in the mail with a new poll location on it. Cards were not mailed to voters who were unaffected by the changes. Anyone who has questions about their polling place can call the Circuit Clerk’s Office at 601-835-3435 during regular business hours.

Registered voters will cast votes in the March 12 Primary Elections on either a Democratic ballot or a Republican ballot.

The Democratic ballot in Mississippi will have the following offices and candidates:

• President — Joseph R. Biden Jr.

• Senate — Ty Pinks

• House of Representatives, District 1 — Dianne Dodson Black; and Bronco Williams

• House of Representatives, District 2 — Bennie G. Thompson

• House of Representatives, District 4 — Craig Elliot Raybon

The Republican ballot in Mississippi will have the following offices and candidates:

• President — Ron DeSantis*; Nikki R. Haley*; Vivek Ramaswamy*; and Donald J. Trump [NOTE: DeSantis, Ramaswamy and Haley have withdrawn from the election, but did not formally have their names removed from the ballot.]

• Senate — Ghannon Burton; Dan Eubanks; Roger F. Wicker

• House of Representatives, District 1 — Trent Kelly

• House of Representatives, District 2 — Ron Eller; Andrew Scott Smith; and Taylor Turcotte

• House of Representatives, District 3 — Michael Guest

• House of Representatives, District 4 — Carl Boyanton; Mike Ezell; and Michael McGill

In Lincoln County, residents will vote for the offices of President, Senate, and House of Representatives District 3. Senators represent the entire state, while Representatives represent a particular district. Other counties in District 3 include Lawrence, Walthall, Pike, Amite and Franklin. Copiah and Jefferson counties are part of District 2.
