    Wesson woman claims big prize

    WESSON — Mississippi Lottery Corporation shared good news for one Wesson Woman Friday. Three tickets yielded $10,200 in prizes.

    The Cash4 tickets were purchased from Seerat Food Mart in Hazlehurst.

    The Mississippi Lottery helps raise funds for education and infrastructure. Net proceeds for July were $8,892,156.49 to start out FY2025, July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Last year, $125,102,374.80 was collected by the lottery corporation.

    After reaching the required $80 million mark for roads and bridges in February 2024, the Education Enhancement Fund received a total of $45,102,374.83 for FY24. According to the Mississippi Lottery Corporation, the education fund pays for numerous education expenses, including early learning collaboratives, the Teacher Supply Fund and upgrading the Mississippi Student Information System.
