BROOKHAVEN — Forecasts are looking a little more favorable for the opening day of dove season in Mississippi. Lincoln County has a 40 percent chance of rain Sunday which is an improvement from the 70 percent and 60 percent outlook earlier this week.

All of the forecasted rainfall could be enough to get soil moisture levels back to normal.

At this time, three tropical disturbances are detected in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida. One of those disturbances is off the coast of Texas and is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Texas and Louisiana resulting in flooding. Another disturbance is in the Caribbean Sea southeast of Cuba. At this time, it has a 40 percent chance of cyclone formation in the next seven days. NHC warns a third disturbance can be found off the west coast of Africa but at this time has a 0 percent chance of cyclone formation in the next seven days. It could be slow to develop into a storm.
