BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes was not present to give his usual report to the Board of Supervisors Tuesday. In his place, Randy Emfinger handed out an engineering report on behalf of Holmes to supervisors.

He told the board if they had any questions or comments to let him know. Shortly after, Greg Malta, Lincoln County Board Attorney, gave a brief update to the board on a Bethel Road bridge project.

“We are dealing with the landowners’ attorney for an agreement. If we don’t get an agreement we will have to take action,” Malta said.

District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson asked about the Auburn Drive bridge project. Emfinger said they will be really close.

“This has been an ongoing process. We have done the best we could on our end to keep the project moving forward,” Emfinger said. “They have an X number of days to get the project finished. If they don’t meet the deadline they would be charged. We should be finished this month.”

Ferguson said he has seen their progress. The bridge is now set and crews are working to complete the bridge and earthwork.

On the Opelousas bridge project, the concrete pour is complete. Site cleanup and earthwork are underway. Opelousas was the last fully timber bridge in District 5.

Other active projects include regular maintenance of road shoulders by mowing, repairing and spraying around bridges. A bond paving project is ongoing in District 3.

According to Dungan Engineering’s report for the supervisors, A bridge replacement project on Old US51 is in the design phase. On Lott Smith road, the survey is complete and now environmental work has started for a bridge replacement project. The plan is 90 percent complete as of this week.

HVAC upgrades in the Lincoln County Courthouse are expected to begin in late fall.
