NEW SIGHT — A car fire on Mandy Loop NW Thursday was knocked down before it could spread to a nearby mobile home. Dark smoke was showing before units got on scene and was visible from Brookway Boulevard.

A call of a car on fire in a yard was dispatched around 11:33 a.m.

Volunteer firefighters responded from New Sight, Loyd Star and Heucks Retreat Volunteer Fire Departments. On scene, a burning vehicle was engulfed in flames and smoke continued to billow out.

Firefighters soaked down the fire and kept it from spreading in the yard to a nearby mobile home. The homeowner’s use of a garden hose bought time for departments to arrive on scene.

It was not immediately clear what the cause of the fire was. Units cleared the scene around 12:42 p.m.
