FRANKLINTON, La. – The Franklinton Branch Library commemorated Black History Month on Thursday, Feb. 1, with a series of engaging activities aimed at celebrating African American culture and contributions. Participants immersed themselves in the empowering pages of “Speak Up,” expressed unity through Friendship Flags for Bogue Chitto State Park, and added a touch of vibrancy to the library’s window display with a crafted poster.

The event was enriched by the insightful words of Mrs. Emma Route, wife of Franklinton Mayor Greg Route, whose inspiring remarks added depth to the celebration, resonating with attendees. Additionally, the Friends of the Library deserve recognition for their generous monetary donations, which supported the success of the commemorative activities.

The Franklinton Branch Library’s commitment to honoring Black History Month through meaningful engagement reflects its dedication to fostering inclusivity and celebrating diversity within the community.
