    Election officials in Rutherford County release Election Day results

    The Rutherford County Election Commission will be certifying the Aug. 1 election results during a 5 p.m. meeting Aug. 12.

    The following shows counts at 30 voting centers in Rutherford County after polls closed at 7 p.m. on Election Day:

    Rutherford County Board of Education

    • Rutherford County Board of Education Zone 2: Stan Vaught, Republican nominee, 1,497 votes (60.85%); Robert C. Brooks, independent, 749 votes (30.45%); John M. Duncan, independent, 200 votes (8.13%)
    • Rutherford County Board of Education Zone 3: Caleb Tidwell, incumbent Republican, 2,337 votes (58.94%); Tiffany Fee, Democrat, 1,360 votes (34.30%); Lorri S. Johnson, independent, 268 votes (6.76%)
    • Rutherford County Board of Education Zone 5: Claire Maxwell, unopposed Republican incumbent and vice chairwoman, 1,373 votes (95.35%); write-in votes, 67 (4.65%)
    • Rutherford County Board of Education Zone 6: William "Butch" Vaughn, unopposed Republican, 2,697 votes (97.15%); write in votes. 79 (2.85%)

    • Murfreesboro City Council: Shawn Wright, incumbent, 5,234 votes (22.62%); Bill Shacklett, incumbent vice mayor, 4,701 votes (20.32%); Kirt Wade, incumbent, 4,517 votes (19.52%); Kelly Northcutt, 4,309 votes (18.62%); Matt Herriman, 4,249 votes (18.36%)

    • State House of Representatives District 13: Robert Stevens, incumbent Republican, 2,246 votes (68.43%); Jami Averwater, Republican, 1,027 votes (31.29%); Jonathan Yancey, Democrat, 1,157 votes (99.14%)
    • State House of Representatives District 34: Tim Rudd, incumbent Republican, 2,196 votes (63.80%); Tucker Marcum, Republican, 1,233 votes (35.82%); Amelia Pant, Democrat, 1,547 votes (99.55%)
    • State House of Representatives District 37: Charlie Baum, unopposed incumbent Republican, 2,487 votes (99.32%); Cheri Brown, unopposed Democratm 1,289 votes (99.38%)
    • State House of Representatives District District 48: Bryan Terry, Republican incumbent; Matt Ferry, unopposed Democrat, 1,528 votes (99.41%)
    • State House of Representatives District 49: Mike Sparks, unopposed incumbent Republican, 1,595 votes (98.03%); Luis Mata, unopposed Democrat, 1,152 votes (99.48%)
    • State Senate District 14: Shane Reeves, unopposed incumbent Republican, 3,884 votes (99.03%); E.R. Smith, unopposed Democrat, 2,306 votes (99.35%)

    GOP primary issue: Candidates for TN District 34 House seat (Rudd, Marcum, Pant) share views on growth taxes

    State party officers

    • Democratic State Executive Committee, District 13: Matthew Burke, 4,237 votes (99.20%)
    • Democratic State Executive Committee, District 14: Matt Ferry, 1,742 votes (71.22%); Erick E. Huth, 695 votes (28.41%)

    Rutherford County Road Board for nonpartisan elections

    • Rutherford County Road Board Zone 2: Keith Bratcher, unopposed independent incumbent, 1,993 votes (99.20%)
    • Rutherford County Road Board Zone 3: Michael A. Shirley, unopposed independent incumbent, 3,017 votes (99.60%)
    • Rutherford County Road Board Zone 5: Michael Anderson, unopposed independent incumbent, 1,558 votes (99.17%)
    • Rutherford County Road Board Zone 6: Elaine Williams, independent, 1,589 votes (52.17%); Paul Johnson, independent incumbent, 1,446 votes (47.47%)

    • U.S. House of Representatives 4th Congressional District, which includes Rutherford County: Scott DesJarlais, Republican incumbent from Sherwood, 9,873 votes (69.59%); Thomas E. Davis, Republican from Morrison 2,615 votes (18.43%); Joshua James, Republican from Murfreesboro who also serves on Rutherford County Commission, 1,666 (11.745); Victoria Isabel Broderick, Democrat from Fayetteville, 6,643 votes (99.36%)
    • U.S. Senate: Marsha Blackburn, Republican incumbent from Brentwood, 12,638 votes (87.26%); Tres Wittum, Republican from Nashville, 1,791 votes (12.37%); Gloria Johnson, Democrat from Knoxville who's a state representative, 5,247 votes (70.84%);Marquita Bradshaw, Democrat from Memphis, 1,693 votes (22.86%); Lola Denise Brown, Democrat from Nashville, 281 votes (3.79%); Civil Miller-Watkins, Democrat from Rossville, 174 votes (2.35%)
