The East Holmes District Board of Education celebrated the grand opening of the new district office and bus garage, located at 4535 Township Road 367, across the street from Berlin High School.

The board bought the former Eco-Seal Home Solutions facility in December 2021 for $750,000 and contracted A&R Builders to handle the construction project, which was completed earlier this year.

The project was completed for $1.7 million.

The facility features a large meeting room capable of hosting more than 50 people for a board meeting or other staff professional development programs.

"It feels really great heading into the school year to be able to use this building for teacher meetings and all sorts of other possibilities moving forward," Superintendent Erik Beun said at Friday's meeting.

Aside from moving the superintendent, treasurer and district staff into the building, the facility will maintain the East Holmes bus fleet at the maintenance bay and storage area, as well as a wash bay for the buses.

The location provides enhanced parking for the district buses and also will improve the traffic flow at Hiland High School.

"We are excited about this new step forward for the East Holmes District," Beun said.
