Local writers start online community to foste creativity at all experience levels

Local writers Meghan McVicker, a Wooster-native, along with Massillon residents Dave Hersher and Cillian Martin, have begun Treehouse Literary Arts Studio, an online writing community dedicated to fostering creativity, community and growth for writers of all experience levels.

The launch event, Treehouse of Terro, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Meatheads Union Tavern, 147 S. Market St., Wooster. Admission is free.

The horror literature-themed event will blend horror and sci-fi cult classics with a fun, retro twist. Enjoy a book exchange, lively discussion and learn more about the group's workshops and writers.

Treehouse provides a space where writers can connect, explore new ideas and gain the confidence to share their stories. With its roots in Northeast Ohio, Treehouse aims to bring the sense of belonging and creative sanctuary that many writers crave but rarely find in traditional settings.

“I started Treehouse after years of leading writing workshops and watching writers transform when they found a safe, welcoming space filled with enthusiastic and supportive readers,” McVicker said in a news release. “Writers didn’t just improve technically − they grew bolder, more creative, and more confident. I realized what they needed most wasn’t another prompt but a community.”
