Parent engagement program cohort seeks participants

Parents for Public School has announced plans for the 2024-25 Parent Engagement Program Cohort. This upcoming school year will be the fifth PEP cohort offered in Pitt County. More than 100 people have graduated from the PEP program in previous cohorts.

The PEP cohort is open to parents and other community members who want to strengthen public schools in Pitt County. Anyone interested in participating in the cohort is invited to complete a PEP application. Participants will be selected on the basis of:

Leadership potentialInterest and/or active participating in schools and communityWillingness to develop and implement a leadership planCommitment to attend all sessions and to maintain an ongoing connection with the PPS network.

The PEP program provides data-driven, customized training that engages parents and improves schools in the process. By working with school administrators and teachers, our participants will reduce barriers to learning and bring the community into the process of strengthening schools.

During PEP, parents and community members learn how schools run, develop effective communication tools, and understand the accountability systems in the state.
