    Prep Spotlight: Vikings, Jaguars volleyball remain unbeaten

    D.H. Conley volleyball claimed another 3-0 shutout win on Tuesday night, the Vikings’ third sweep in their first four matches.

    Conley claimed the first set comfortably, 25-12, then won a closer second, 25-18, before legging out a marathon 28-26 third frame to clinch the shutout.

    Britni Silver crushed 24 kills to go with four digs, two blocks and five aces to lead D.H. Conley, while Riley McGalliard amassed 36 assists and two blocks and Sydney Carden added six kills.

    The Vikes take on Orange for the second time this season at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the WRAL High School OT showcase. The team from Hillsborough is the only squad to win a set against the Vikings this season.

    Farmville Central 3, Hunt 2

    The Jaguars staked themselves a 3-0 start to the season with a five-set win at home on Tuesday night.

    It was the second win in as many nights for Farmville.

    The Jags capped a frantic three-games-in-three-days stretch by hosting South Central on Wednesday night.

    John Paul II 3, Liberty Christian 0

    The Saints went on the road on Tuesday night to notch their third win of the season in a 25-15, 25-23, 25-12 sweep.

    JPII (3-2) has alternated wins and losses in its first five games and hopes to alter that trend at Epiphany next Tuesday.

    SOCCER

    South Central 2, Fike 2

    The Falcons remained unbeaten this season after battling goal for goal with Fike on Tuesday night in Wilson.

    The teams were tied 1-1 at the half before again trading goals in the second.

    The Falcons (1-0-1) are off until next Tuesday when they play at East Carteret.

    Grace Christian 2, John Paul II 1

    The host Crusaders grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half on Tuesday night before trading goals with the Saints in the second to deal John Paul II its first loss of the season.

    The Saints (1-1) are back in action on Friday at home versus Howard.

    JV VOLLEYBALL

    D.H. Conley 2, Gray’s Creek 0

    Conley’s JV handled the first part of a Vikings sweep, winning 25-7, 25-4 on Tuesday.

    Tori Morrisey led the way with 14 assists and two aces, while Brooklyn Smith added seven kills, Jamysen Howard had four kills, Addison Ferebee had three kills and two aces and Ava Brann had three aces for Conley (4-0).
