    Events coming up in the Greenville area offer music, arts, theater and family fun. Here is a sampling.

    ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’

    Magnolia Arts Center will present “Jesus Christ Superstar” at 2 and 7:30 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday at the State Theatre, 110 W. Fifth St. The rock opera features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors, students and members of the military.     Watermelon Festival

    The Winterville Watermelon Festival continues today and Sunday at the Winterville Recreation Park, 332 Sylvania St. The annual event includes carnival rides, a parade, a watermelon-eating contest, food and games. The Watermelon Jam, a ticketed event, will be held from 5-10 p.m. today and will feature Grand Funk Railroad. Visit watermelonfest.com.

    Bluey and Bingo

    Farmville Public Library, 4276 W. Church St., will host “Meet Bluey and Bingo” at 10 and 11 a.m. today. The characters will read a story, play Keepy Uppy with participants, lead a dance party and pose for photos. Free. Visit farmvillelibrary.org.

    Mirra celebration

    A Dave Mirra Memorial Celebration will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Jaycee Park, 2000 Cedar Lane. This will include the dedication of a statue in memory of Mirra, a renowned BMX rider and X Games medalist who died in 2016. The event also will include a BMX riding session and food trucks.

    Social at Wildwood

    Wildwood Park, 3450 Blue Heron Drive, will host a social event for active adults and seniors from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday. Participants may choose from activities including hiking, painting, Zumba, pickleball, kayaking, crafting and table games. A $5 fee is charged per session. Lunch will be served.     Concert on the Common

    The Concert on the Common series will present Tell Me Lies: Fleetwood Mac Tribute at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Common, 105 E. First St. The series features food trucks, other vendors and adult beverages. Pets are welcome. No coolers or glass containers are allowed. Visit concertonthecommon.org.

    Kickoff party

    The Pirate Radio Kickoff Party, with former ECU player and “American Idol” singer Blake Proehl, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the State Theatre, 110 W. Fifth St. The event also will feature Should’ve Been Cowboys (90s country covers). Tickets are $10.

    Freeboot Friday

    The first Freeboot Friday of the season will kick off from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Five Points Plaza, at the corner of Fifth and Evans streets. This free, alive-at-five event offers live music, children’s activities, arts and crafts, live music, food, and adult beverages for those 21 and older. Additional dates are Sept. 13, Sept. 27 and Oct. 25.
