A Maury man has been charged in connection to three structure fires in Greene County this month.

On Aug. 20 investigators from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office arrested Leslie Earl Holloman, 41, of Maury. He is charged with three counts of second-degree arson.

The sheriff’s office said the first fire was reported about 7:52 p.m. Aug. 3 at Frizzelle Farm Road south of Maury.

Maury Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to another fire about 3:50 p.m. Aug. 17 at an unoccupied single story residence at 166 Half Moon Road, northeast of the town off of N.C. 903. Four departments responded to the residence which sustained extensive damage, reports said. Crews battled the blaze for approximately two hours.

The third fire was reported about 2:45 p.m. Aug. 20, where Maury Volunteer Fire and Rescue said the Hookerton Fire Department responded to a single-wide mobile home ablaze at 4226 Four Way Road. Maury and Snow Hill personnel as well as Greene County EMS responded to assist. The residence was unoccupied and the fire was quickly brought under control.

The sheriff’s office said Holloman was identified as a possible suspect after the Aug. 17 fire and was seen by witnesses leaving the area of the fire on Four Way Road. Deputies took him into custody near the scene of that fire.

The sheriff’s office said Holloman confessed to setting all three fires. He was jailed at the Greene County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.
