Events coming up in the Greenville area offer music, arts, theater and family fun. Here is a sampling.
Collard Festival
The 50th annual Ayden Collard Festival will be held on Sept. 5-7 in downtown Ayden. The event will include a parade, live bands, rides, vendors, a collard eating contest and an art show. No pets are allowed at the festival, only service animals. For more information, visit aydencollardfestival.com.
Art Walk
First Friday Art Walk resumes from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 6. The event is an exploration of downtown galleries, museums, restaurants, breweries and music venues to experience the talent and creativity found in the region. A free Emerald Express Trolley is available for transportation between stops. In conjunction with this month’s event, Emerge Gallery and Art Center, 404 Evans St., will host opening receptions for “Remnants” by Austin Sheppard and “Resilient Clarity” by Brandon Dudley. Fisk on Fourth
The 2024-25 Fisk on Fourth concert season will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 E. Fourth St. The opening concert will feature the New Carolina Sinfonia and organist David Baskeyfield performing Poulenc’s Organ Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, “Organ.” Suggested donation is $25. Fashion on Display
Greenville Museum of Art, 802 S. Evans St., will host Fashion on Display from 5:30-8 p.m. Sept. 12. The annual fall fashion show fundraiser will feature the season’s looks provided by local boutiques. Appetizers, cocktails and wine will be available. Performing arts series
The S. Rudolph Alexander Series will begin its new season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 with a performance by Duo Exaudi, an award-winning classical guitar duo featuring Belarusian guitarist Elina Chekan and Cuban guitarist Rene Izquierdo. Freeboot Friday
Freeboot Friday will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Five Points Plaza, at the corner of Fifth and Evans streets. The free event offers live music, children’s activities, arts and crafts, food and adult beverages for those 21 and older. Additional dates are Sept. 27 and Oct. 25.
Moonlight hayride
A Moonlight Hayride and Campfire will take place at 7-8 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. Sept. 17 at River Park North, 1000 Mumford Road, Greenville. The 45-minute moonlit hayride will travel around a 31-acre pond. Participants can roast marshmallows around a campfire upon their return. The fee is $12 per person or $10 for Greenville residents. Preregistration is required. Lakeside Live

Flute performance
East Carolina University School of Music will present a performance by guest artist Kelariz Keshavarz, flute, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall. Keshavarz, assistant professor of flute at Western Carolina University, will present contemporary music for the flute from Iran and the Middle East. Free. Call 328-6851. Multicultural arts festival
Emerge Gallery and Art Center will host the inaugural Mosaic Multicultural Arts Festival 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 21 in collaboration with the City of Greenville and other partners at the Town Common, 105 E. ECU Symphony Orchestra

Fall Scenes
ECU Opera Theater will hosts Fall Scenes at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and Sept. 29 in A.J. Fletcher Recital Hal. School Girls
ECU/Loessin Playhouse will open the 2024-25 season with “School Girls” (or the African “Mean Girls” play) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in McGinnis Theater on campus. Additional performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26-28 and 2 p.m. Sept. 29. Season subscriptions, which include four theater productions and two dance performances, are available for $100 for the general public, $72 for senior adults and $48 for ECU students and youth. Four Seasons
Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival will open its 25th anniversary season with a performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in ECU’s A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall. Works from Astor Piazzolla, Edward Elgar and Antonín Dvořák also will be featured. The concert will feature the Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra, along with artists Hye-Jin Kim, Ara Gregorian and Xiao-Dong Wang, violin, Thomas Sauer, piano, Maria Lambros, viola and Raman Ramakrishnan, cello. Murder mystery fundraiser
