    Walking tour

    The Pitt County Arboretum will hold a walking tour from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday to introduce plants in the local landscape that have historical or modern medicinal uses. Attendance is free. Preregister at tinyurl.com/pitt-arboretum.

    USA Dance

    Greenville USA Dance will hold a social dance from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday at the Turnage Theatre, 150 W. Main St., Washington, N.C. Cost is $10 per person.

    Financial literacy

    Pitt County Cooperative Extension, Bank On North Carolina and local financial institutions will discuss financial literacy, banking basics and taking the necessary steps to strengthen financial stability from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday at 403 Government Circle Suite 2, Greenville.     Job fair

    Lenoir Community College will sponsor a Greene County Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Greene County Wellness Center, 84 N. Perry Drive, Snow Hill. The event is open to the public.     Candidate forum

    A candidate forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cornerstone Family Life Center, 1095 Allen Road. Meet the candidates who are running for N.C. Senate, N.C.     Carolina Sports Festival

    The Carolina Sports Festival is set to take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 S.W.     Good Hope FWB Church, 2506 Mill St., Winterville, will celebrate its 114th anniversary at 10 a.m. on Oct. 6.

    Art show fundraiser

    The 15th annual Carter Williams Art Show & Fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at 2000 Cedar Lane. Proceeds benefit breast cancer research, education and community outreach. Artists and donors are asked to consider contributing artwork or work from their collections to be part of this year’s fundraiser.     FallFest

    Latino festival

    The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina Inc. and the Eastern North Carolina Latin-American Coalition Inc. are hosting the 21st Annual Latino Festival “Celebrating Diversity and Sharing Our Cultures” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Greenville Town Common, 105 E. First St. It will feature tastes, sights and experiences of Latin America through food and performances; opportunities to meet and network with Latino entrepreneurs; and children’s games with prizes and other activities.
