BRONSON — There is a kickoff Friday in Bronson for the annual city-wide Garage Sale Weekend with a twist.

A party at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion from 4 to 8 p.m. features an array of food trucks and live music to keep everyone entertained.

Patrick Bird, the city’s Community Economic Development Association of Michigan fellow, wants those attending to go to the city hall next door for an open house.

They can take a look at “our master plan update. The open house will give the community a chance to interact with planning staff and participate in creating a new vision for Bronson’s future,” Bird said.

As the city completes the Master Plan update, the Bronson staff wants to engage as many as possible in the planning process.

Bird said, “Our aim is to actively engage a diverse audience to capture the community’s priorities and develop the strategies and policies necessary to make them into a reality.”

After a look, or even if you don’t review the Master Plan, the city wants public input through a survey.

An approved Master Plan with resident input helps the city qualify for state grants and other programs to improve the city.

City Manager Brain Mersman said, “A city’s Master Plan serves as the cornerstone for future development, infrastructure enhancements, and community improvement initiatives.”

The manager said the perspectives of Bronson’s diverse population are crucial to crafting a plan that reflects both what the community needs and desires.
