City manager Keith Baker explained the new look:

    • Municipal Service summer and full-time staff repaired and restained the wooden structure.
    • The large wooden play castle and fort were power-washed.
    • Contractors replaced the old ground mulch and soil with $16,000 of new mulch.
    • Two staff members replaced decorative painting.

Baker said, “We had it inspected by the original designer Leather and Associates a couple of years ago and it is in very good structural condition.”

In 1996, Leathers & Associates created the original design, which the community built with local donations.

The firm, founded in 1971 by world-renowned architect Bob Leathers, suggested ways to enlarge and improve the structure after some vandalism in 2014.
