BRANCH COUNTY – Look at us! Here we are, entering Week 5 of the Michigan high school football season, which means more than half the regular season is officially behind us.

Over the past month we here at The Daily Reporter have asked for your help in determining who is the very best on the gridiron with our weekly Football Player of the Week poll. We have chosen three athletes up to this point, including Coldwater sophomore quarterback Dracyn Foster, Union City defensive end Caden Hughes and Quincy quarterback Alex Barry.

So, here we are, after another week of voting we have our fourth The Daily Reporter Football Player of the Week as you, the readers, have chosen Bronson running back Jace Hoard as this week’s honoree.

Hoard won this week’s vote in a rather close contest, winning with 36% of the vote after leading the surging Viking rushing attack in a win over Reading last week. Hoard was unstoppable as Bronson’s go-to back last week, carrying the ball 19 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Hoard and his Vikings, who are currently on a three-game winning streak, will look to make it four in a row with a long trip to Maple Valley to face off with the Lions.

Just behind Hoard, finishing in second place with 26% of the vote this week, is Quincy senior wide receiver Ryan Kempter. Kempter was nominated this week for an effort that put his name into the Quincy High School record books for receiving. Kempter hauled in three catches for 47 yards on Friday versus Sand Creek, and with those 47 yards Kempter moved himself into the top spot on Quincy’s all-time career receiving Yards list. Kempter could find himself atop another record board after this week as the senior playmaker needs only three more catches to capture the record for most receptions in a career. Kempter will look to lead his Orioles in pursuit of the new record with a match up versus the undefeated Springport Spartans.

Finishing in a close third place in this week’s vote, with 23% of the vote, was Union City running back Dylon MacDonald. MacDonald once again led the Charger rushing attack as the senior went over 100 yards for the fourth straight week, finishing the day with 10 carries for 141 yards and three scores, a number that included a pair of 50-yard touchdown runs and a 1-yard touchdown dive. MacDonald will look to add to his impressive season resume Friday when he leads the undefeated Union City Chargers against Sand Creek.

Also earning votes in the week 4 The Daily Reporter High School Football Player of the Week poll is Karson Scare of Bronson; Drew Ennis of Coldwater; Carter Pish of Quincy; Spencer Losinski of Bonson; Kam Brackett of Bronson; Aidan Decker of Union City; Kaden Roby of Coldwater; and Ethan Peason of Quincy.
