    Union City and Bronson runs at Hudson Booster Invite; Charger boys take title

    HUDSON – The Union City Chargers and the Bronson Vikings traveled to the Hudson Booster Invitational on Saturday for a day of cross-country action.

    Union City wins boy’s race as every scoring runner medals; Bronson finished seventh

    The Union City Chargers sprinted their way to a dominant win on Saturday, winning the Hudson Booster Invite with a low score of 46 points. Leslie finished in second place with 72 points, followed by Gorham-Fayette in third place with 115 points.

    The Chargers were led on the day by junior Ben Gautsche who finished in second place in a time of 16 minutes, 54.21 seconds while their second runner, senior Jason Shoop, finished in fourth place in a time of 17:19.75.

    Rounding out the Union City effort was Cohen Burdick in 11 th place (18:00.65); Malachi Payne in 13 th place (18:12.91); and Noah June in 16 th place (18:23.92). Also adding to the Union City effort was Cullen Decker in 19 th place and Aidan Taylor in 30 th place.

    Bronson also ran on the day, taking seventh place as a team with 177 points.

    Bronson was led by freshman Adam Franks, who finished 24th in 18:45.78, while Tyler Wilber finished 31st (19:12.79). Also adding to the Bronson effort was Brayton Cosby in 35 th place (19:22.04); Carter Sikorski in 42 nd place (19:48.63); and Matthew Anderson in 57 th place (20:30.53). Also adding to the Viking effort was Schaydyn Rinehart in 103 rd place and Jyles Miner in 106 th place.

    Union City girls take second, Bronson third in girls' race

    The Union City Charger girls took runner-up honors at the Hudson Booster Invite with 82 points while Bronson finished in third place with 87 points. Leslie took home the title, winning the championship with 56 points.

    Union City’s effort was paced by two top 10 finishes, led by senior Skyler Fraley who finished in fifth place in a time of 20:06.24 while Alli Gautsche finished in seventh place in a time of 20:53.93.

    Rounding out the Charger scoring effort was Alissa Skirka in 17th place (22:09.13); Parker Williams in 26th place (23:02.69); and Elizabeth Arlt in 43rd place (24:17.43).

    Also running for Union City was Carly Smith in 46 th place and McKenzie Hawks in 53 rd place.

    The Bronson Vikings were led by the duo of Ava Hathaway and Ashlynn Harris. Hathaway finished in third place overall in a time of 19:35.85 while Harris took fourth place in a time of 20:04.78.

    Rounding out the Viking effort was Alonna Goodsell in 15 th place (21:56.70); Lydia Wells in 34 th place (23:37.91); and Abbi Ferry in 48 th place (24:54.83). Elizabeth Ortiz finished in 72 nd place.
