    Quincy football continues search for first win after Week 6 loss to Stockbridge

    QUINCY – The Quincy football team continues its search for win No. 1 on the season as Friday night’s Big 8 contest against Stockbridge saw the Panthers score 21 unanswered points to pull away for the 28-7 win.

    Stockbridge found the scoreboard first thanks to a 29-yard touchdown pass from Zac Rogozinski to Brock Rochow, making it 6-0 early.

    Quincy then took the lead as Christian Craven found Noah Kelley for a 26-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was good, giving the Orioles the 7-6 lead in the second quarter.

    Stockbridge responded with a pair of touchdowns before halftime, a 35-yard touchdown run by Rogozinski and on a 37-yard scoring toss from Rogozinski, to lead 20-7.

    Stockbridge added its final score in the third quarter, as Rogozinski found Brandon Hamlett from 15 yards out, with the two-point conversion creating the final score.

    Christian Craven led the Quincy offense, completing 10 of 21 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown with four interceptions. Noah Kelley had five carries for 43 yards to go along with a team high five catches for 72 yards and a score.

    Noah Rufenacht had two catches for 68 yards to help in the Quincy effort.

    Zac Rogozinski led the Stockbridge offense, finishing 7-for-11 with 124 yards and three scores while also adding 13 carries for 92 yards and a score. Brandon Hamlett had a big day on the ground, adding 28 carries for 122 yards while pulling in two catches for 51 yards and two scores.

    Ethan Pearson led the Quincy defense with 15 total tackles while Kaden Cutler added 11 tackles, including one for a loss. Also chipping in for the defense was Zach Abbeg with eight tackles, Lucas Dixon with seven tackles, Zac Hollingsworth with six tackles, and Carson Haylett with six tackles, one for a loss, with a sack.

    Stockbridge was led by Domenic Ciminelli with seven tackles, including one for a loss, with a sack.

    Quincy (0-6) plays at Bronson on Friday in the Vikings’ Homecoming game.

    Tekonsha forced to forfeit due to injury

    The Tekonsha Indians were unable to field a team due to injuries and illness for Friday’s planned 8-person contest with Waldron and were forced to forfeit, giving Waldron the 2-0 win.
