    BRANCH COUNTY – Voting is now open for this week’s Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week as presented by The Daily Reporter.

    Last week the readers voted in big numbers for the Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week Elli Foley of Coldwater Volleyball.

    This week, we have three cross country aces, two volleyball superstars, and a soccer scoring machine all up for the vote, which depends on you, the readers.

    Voting runs from Tuesday at 10 a.m. through Thursday at 5 p.m., so vote now, vote often, and let us know who this week’s Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week is.

    Nominees:

    Aleah Brackett, Bronson Viking Volleyball - Brackett has stepped into the role of setter seamlessly for the Vikings, as the high-powered offense has not missed a beat. In Bronson’s sweep over Quincy this past Tuesday it was Brackett recording 7 kills, 3 aces, 21 assists, 7 digs, 2 blocks. Fast forward to the weekend where Brackett was a big part of Bronson’s undefeated run at the Polish Classic, adding 23 kills, 9 aces, 60 assists, 31 digs.

    Ava Hathaway, Bronson Viking Cross Country- Hathaway had another big week on the cross-country course for Bronson, beginning with a first-place finish at the first Big 8 jamboree of the season, winning in a time of 19:28.89. Hathaway followed that up with a third-place finish at the Hudson Booster Invitational, taking the bronze medal in 19:35.85.

    Ben Gautsche, Union City Charger Cross Country- Gautsche has been the gold standard for the Big 8 conference since the start of last season, winning every conference meet throughout the 2023 season on his way to an individual conference title and a team title for the Union City boys. Gautsche continued that dominance last Tuesday, winning the first conference jamboree of the season in a time of 16:51.3. Gautsche also performed at the Hudson Booster Invite on Saturday, leading his Chargers to a championship win with a second-place finish in a time of 16:54.21.

    Charlotte Crabbs, Quincy Oriole Cross Country - Crabbs had a solid week on the cross-country course, beginning with a banger effort at the first Big 8 jamboree of the season, where Crabbs finished in fifth place in a time of 21:27.81. To follow that up, Crabbs brought home a medal from Saturday’s Hudson Booster Invite, taking 28th place in 22:47.06.

    Dawood Gabry, Coldwater Cardinal Soccer – Gabry had a big and clutch week for Coldwater soccer, leading the Cardinals to a 2-1 record on the pitch. On Senior Night Gabry netted two goals, including the game winner with only :26 seconds left to play in a 2-1 win over Lakeview. Dawood also added what would be the game winning goal in the second half versus Mattawan this past Saturday.

    Mya Porter, Coldwater Cardinal Volleyball - Porter helped lead her Cardinals to a win over Interstate 8 rival Pennfield this past week, recording a team high 13 kills to go along with three aces and 15 digs.
