County to close, fix South Gulf Cove bridge

SOUTH GULF COVE — Charlotte County is performing repair work on the well-traveled bridge on Appleton Boulevard in South Gulf Cove, closing the bridge to traffic for several weeks.

The bridge will be closed Monday and remain closed until the work is done. The expected completion date is Aug. 3, according to county officials.

The bridge is just off Gasparilla Road and crosses over the Santa Cruz Waterway. The work and is part of the county's South Gulf Cove Bridge Repairs project.

Officials recommend using Keystone and Calumet boulevards as a detour. There are detour signs posted in the neighborhood.
