NORTH PORT — While serving a search warrant related to a burglary, police arrested a man on Tuesday for alleged possession of marijuana and synthetic drugs.

They also arrested his mother, sister, and neighbor for allegedly hiding a gun believed to have been used in the alleged robbery.

Tysean Jamar Rosser, 20, has been charged with one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of synthetic narcotics with intent to sell.

According to his arrest report, the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office contacted the North Port Police Department about a burglary in their jurisdiction on Aug. 25.

The complainant alleged that the burglary was done by two suspects wearing ski masks, one of whom was armed with a pistol.

Both suspects arrived at the scene in Arcadia in a dark-colored sedan with a visible registration plate. The plate was registered to April Dawn Dwello, Rosser's mother, which led authorities to their mutual home in the 3300 block of Mola Street in North Port.

Rosser was identified as a possible suspect by DCSO, and a search warrant for his residence was obtained.

The search warrant was executed that same day and allegedly led to the discovery of roughly 456 grams of marijuana in Rosser's bedroom and over 610 grams in the residence's enclosed lanai.

Officers also alleged to have found four boxes of THC vape pens and three scales near some marijuana samples.

The arrest report noted that Rosser was currently on felony probation for a battery charge out of Charlotte County at the time of the search.

A second warrant was obtained and executed on Aug. 27 to search for firearms and further narcotics in reference to Rosser's probation.

That search allegedly turned up 17 more boxes of THC vapes and three rounds of ammunition.

In a separate arrest report, Dwello and Rosser were alleged to have communicated after the first search warrant. Rosser allegedly asked his mother to remove a pistol in his bedroom, which was apparently hidden underneath a chair in his room.

According to a recording of their phone call, alluded to in the report, Dwello allegedly said that she put the gun in a safe that was previously searched by law enforcement.

Rosser's sister, Amari Streeter, also spoke on the phone with him during the same conversation.

Officers then followed up with Dwello, who allegedly admitted post-Miranda warning that she had put the gun into a lunchbox and gave it to a neighbor, Leslie Smillie.

Smillie allegedly gave over the lunchbox to police, who found a Sig Sauer pistol inside.

Dwello, 44, was charged with tampering with evidence in a criminal proceeding, as was Streeter, 18, and Smillie, 43.

Rosser is due to appear in Sarasota County Court on Oct. 11, and currently remains
