PORT CHARLOTTE — The Crisis Cleaning Hotline is open and taking calls after the devastation of both Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.

The hotline is 844-965-1386 to “assist residents with cleaning up storm-related damage,” the organization stated in a news release.

It is a part of a collection of local relief organizations, community groups and faith-based communities, the news release noted.

“If you or someone you know requires help with tasks such as muck-out, debris removal, tree clearing, or tarp installation, call the hotline to request assistance from volunteers in the community,” the release stated. “All services are provided free of charge, though it is important to note that service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming demand.”

It noted the Crisis Cleanup Hotline does not assist with social services.

“Volunteers will provide their own tools and equipment for the cleanup work, but the hotline cannot provide any financial assistance or support beyond physical cleanup efforts,” it stated.

The initiative is a part of the Community Organizations Active in Disaster.

It is seeking donations to help out.

“Cash donations are critical as they allow us to provide immediate, targeted assistance to those hardest hit, including purchasing emergency supplies, supporting shelter and temporary housing, and facilitating long-term recovery efforts,” it stated. “We are also accepting donations of essential supplies, which will be distributed through our newly established Donation Reception and Distribution Center.”

It isn’t able to accept donations of clothing or furniture but will accept diapers, first aid supplies, pet food, sunscreen, hats, coolers, batteries, towels, sheets and blankets.

“Cash donations allow us to respond quickly and efficiently to the unique and evolving needs of our community,” Gulf Coast Partnership CEO/COAD representative Angela Hogan stated. “Every dollar donated helps us provide timely assistance where it is most needed, from emergency shelter to basic necessities,”

The Gulf Coast Partnership is an initiative that forges consensus “to implement goals and strategies to raise the quality of life for all Charlotte County residents,” it stated.
