    Lenawee County Athlete of the Week for May 6-11

    Lenawee County high school teams worked around a couple of rainy days to get in a full week of games with many standout performances.

    Here are the nominees:

    Molly Brown, Addison track

    Brown won four events at the East Jackson Dome Invite as she won the 100-meter, 200, the high hurdles and intermediate hurdles.

    Carson Ritz, Adrian boys golf

    Ritz won the county title and then picked up a second medalist honor on the week.

    The Maples won the county title with Ritz pacing the way at The Hills of Lenawee with a 74 before winning medalist honors at the Parma Western Invite with a 2-under-par.

    Julius Robichaud, Adrian baseball

    The Maples swept Ypsilanti in the SEC White series before taking two against Dundee on Friday.

    Robichaud had six hits with a triple, two doubles, five RBIs and four runs while tossing nine shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out 13.

    Tatum Borton, Adrian soccer

    The Maples picked up four wins against Pinckney, Jackson, Armada and Walled Lake Central by a combined score of 20-2.

    Borton led the way with 13 goals.

    Brenden Benschoter, Clinton track and field

    Benschoter won the 100, 200 and high jump in the Ida LCAA tri-meet and was part of the winning 4x100 team.

    Izzy Brooks, Lenawee Christian track and field

    Brooks set the school mark in the 1,600 and also won the 800 and the 4x400.

    Brooks set the record with a time of 5:18.60.

    Brian Dopp, Madison baseball

    The Trojans split against Jackson Northwest and beat Tecumseh with Brian Dopp helping lead the way.

    Dopp got the win against the Mounties, not allowing an earned run, one hit and two walks while striking out five. He also had three hits with a triple and an RBI before going 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs against Tecumseh.

    Caylan Sower, Madison softball

    Sower smacked the ball around for the Trojans this week with five hits in a doubleheader.

    Sower had a home run, triple and two doubles with seven RBIs and three runs.

    Addyson Valentine, Morenci softball

    Valentine had four wins this week in the circle as she helped the Bulldogs get back on track.

    In the wins she allowed five hits, no earned runs and struck out 30.

    Emmry Ross, Onsted track

    Ross continued her dominant season as she won the 400, 800 and 1,600 in the weekly LCAA duals and the Hillsdale Invite.

    She also helped win the 4x800 twice this week.

    Brennan Cornack, Tecumseh lacrosse

    Cornack netted his 100th goal as Tecumseh beat Ypsilanti Lincoln to clinch a share of back-to-back SEC White titles.

    Lucy Whelan, Tecumseh softball

    Whelan had nine hits with two triples, three RBIs and scored three runs this week for Tecumseh.

    Whelan's biggest hit came in the bottom of the seventh in Game 1 against Pinckney as she hit a two-run single to walk it off and complete a six-run comeback.
