Every year there is anticipation when the new football schedules are released.

Whether it's high school , college or the NFL, fans look at the lineup of games and run the outcomes in their heads to predict what this season is going to look like for their team.

There are always key games fans particularly get excited for and we've circled them for you.

Here are the games we've circled on our calendar for the 2024 season:

Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central at Clinton, Week 1

The Redwolves sure know how to kickoff a season. The last two years they've challenged themselves with Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and this season they'll take on Falcons to start the season.

Clinton has never been one to back down from a challenge and it'll do so against a team hungry for revenge after the Redwolves ended SMCC's season in the district championship last year, 22-14.

    Addison at Manchester, Week 2

Last season, Josh Lindeman led the Panthers to an undefeated regular season with the highest point per game average in the entire state. This season, he'll be welcoming in Addison to his new home in Manchester where he'll be leading the Flying Dutchmen this season.

The Lindeman angle aside, this is Addison's biggest game of the season as it's the only game on the schedule this season against a team coming off a winning season.

Climax Scotts at Lenawee Christian, Week 3

The Cougars and Panthers have developed a rivalry since both joined the 8-man ranks in recent years. Since the move the, the tide has turned for LCS as it is 3-9 against Climax Scotts all time with all three wins coming in the last four seasons.

The Panthers are one of only two teams to beat the Cougars in 8-man and despite no longer being the same conference, the game remains on the schedule.

    Adrian at Tecumseh, Week 4

It's the biggest rivalry in the county and both teams come into the season in similar situations. The Maples snapped a 10-game losing streak last season, so Tecumseh will have some revenge on its mind as it looks to regain the Adrian-Tecumseh helmet.

Both teams are looking for three-straight playoff appearances, Adrian lost four-year starting quarterback Sean Parker while Tecumseh is learning to live without standout back AJ Bryan.

Britton Deerfield at Lenawee Christian, Week 5

The original two 8-man teams in Lenawee meet again. The Cougars have controlled the short rivalry winning each of the three regular-season meetings and once in the playoffs and LCS is coming off a third state championship in four years.

But, the Cougars graduated the bulk of the title team while the Patriots were young last season and are also deeper in numbers.

Union City at Sand Creek, Week 5

The Aggies are looking to battle to be one of the top teams in the reformed Big 8 and they take on the defending Big 8 champs at home in Week 5.

The following week will be a big one as well as they travel to Vermontville Maple Valley, which went 7-2 last season in 8-man and is rejoining 11-man this season. If Sand Creek comes out of these games with a pair of wins, the Big 8 could belong to the Aggies.

Morenci at Britton Deerfield, Week 7

Since Britton Macon and Deerfield combined to make Britton Deerfield, the Patriots have played Morenci more times than any other program.

The two schools have faced 12 times, most coming in the TCC days before both eventually moved to 8-man football and are now part of the South Central 8-man League with Concord and Lenawee Christian. In those 12 games, two have split down the middle, 6-6.

    Clinton at Hudson, Week 8

The last two seasons Clinton and Hudson have met in Week 9 in what turned out to be the LCAA championship of sorts. This season is a little different as the Redwolves and Tigers meet in Week 8, but the intrigue is still there.

While Adrian and Tecumseh have the classic rivalry in Lenawee, this one has become a not-to-far second.

    Dundee at Blissfield, Week 9

Every game in the LCAA feels big, but this one has been a lowkey battle for a few years now.

In 2022, Dundee topped the Royals by a touchdown and eventually got into the playoffs while Blissfield missed out. Last year, it was Blissfield winning by a field goal and making the playoffs while the Vikings missed out.
