    Vote for Lenawee County Athlete of the Week

    The first week of the season is in the books and there were already a handful of standout performances around the county.

    Here are the nominees for the first Lenawee County Athlete of the Week vote:

    Molly Brown, Addison volleyball

    The defending Lenawee County Player of the Year had a great start to the season as she led the Panthers to a runner-up at their home tournament. Brown had 69 kills, 41 digs and 11 aces, giving her 13.8 kills, 8.2 digs and 2.2 aces per match.

    Carter Allen, Adrian boys soccer

    Allen led the Maples to a 2-2 start to begin the season with wins against Hillsdale and Lenawee Christian while falling to Porter House Christian and Hillsdale Academy. Allen had five goals during the week.

    Grant Garza, Adrian boys tennis

    The Maples started the season 4-4 with wins against Tecumseh, Milan, Riverview and Dearborn. Garza got wins at No. 3 singles against Walled Lake, Jackson Northwest, Milan, Riverview, Dearborn and Temperance Bedford and got a doubles win with Nick Schefka.

    Samson Schaffner, Clinton boys soccer

    The Redwolves started the season 2-1 with the Columbia Central tournament title. Schaffner had two goals and two assists in the tournament to help lead Clinton to the championship.

    Cassidy Hawken, Adrian girls golf

    Hawken started her senior year strong, taking medalist honors in the Adrian Invite at Woodlawn Golf Course. Hawken shot an 84 to lead the Maples to the championship.

    Mitchell Hiatt, Onsted cross country

    Hiatt began the season strong by winning the Lenawee County Cross Country Preview. Hiatt ran 16:35.50 at Tecumseh, topping the second-place runner by 20 seconds.

    Emmry Ross, Onsted cross country

    Ross ran away with another Lenawee County Cross Country Preview as she dominated the rest of the field. Ross ran 18:27.80, topping the second-place runner by 35 seconds.
