TDOT to change Alcoa Highway alignment
Northbound traffic on Alcoa Highway will be shifted left of its current location beginning 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. According to a release from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the shift will be near the John Sevier Highway interchange. Traffic will return to its current alignment near Power Drive. The I.C. King boat ramp will also be closed for about two weeks while workers construct access from the new northbound highway alignment. TDOT said the schedule is weather permitting, and advised drivers to expect delays and use caution in the area.

Louisville man charged with shooting 63-year-old male
Benjamin Michael Absher, 29, Samples Road, Louisville was arrested Wednesday for attempted criminal homicide. The victim, a 63-year-old male, is in critical condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to the press release. The arrest affidavit states that Absher allegedly first threatened to kill the victim then shot him in the head. Absher was taken into custody by Blount County Sheriff's deputies at 7:11 p.m. May 8 and was being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond. This investigation is ongoing.

The Maryville Police Department took to Facebook Tuesday afternoon, May 7, asking for help locating missing teenager Joshua Howton. Officers described Howton as a 16-year-old White male with blond hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet tall and weighs about 185lbs, and was last seen wearing a black cap, glasses, a green hoodie and black jeans. Officers said he left his home April 21. Louisville man arrested for allegedly assaulting fiancée
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at Alcoa Inn, 250 Airport Highway, Alcoa, on May 6. The caller said he witnessed a Maryville man, later identified as David A. Power loss at Alcoa Kroger
Tuesday morning, Alcoa Fire Department responded to a report at 3:47 a.m. of smoke at Kroger, 244 S. Hall Road, Alcoa. According to Fire Marshal Darren Stinnett, due to early morning storms, it was possible that lightning hit a transformer, causing a power surge that caused large amounts of smoke in the building. College Street corridor improvements begin in June
Renovations to the College Street corridor are coming this summer, with work slated to begin in June.
