Early Thursday evening, August 8th, Central Precinct officers and PFR emergency first responders converged on the intersection of S.E. McLoughin and Holgate on the report of an incident described as “a blue truck, nose down toward the Springwater Trail, about 50 feet down the embankment.” Apparently the vehicle had run up the substantial berm on the “jug handle” exit from southbound Highway 99E exit to Holgate, and had gone up over the edge. ...

Rose City Rollers to host Global Roller Derby Championships in November
Rose City Rollers and their four-time world champion all-star team Wheels of Justice will be hosting the Global Roller Derby Championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Nov. 1-3. There'll be roller derby teams from around the world competing — the United States, Canada, France, Sweden, Australia. The Global Championships "is the Super Bowl of roller derby," publicity states. McNeilly Dominates Portland Races; Taylor Secures USF Juniors Title
Liam McNeilly achieved two victories during the Continental Tire Grand Prix of Portland, while Max Taylor secured the USF Juniors championship title with two podium finishes. The championship victory grants Taylor a $263,700 scholarship to progress to the USF2000 series in 2025. McNeilly's performance also solidified Jay Howard Driver Development's team accomplishments, culminating in an eventful racing day filled with wet conditions and strategic pit stops. Taylor's consistent performance allowed him to clinch the title, marking a successful season for him and his team.
Deep in the Oregon Woods, Punks on a Plane
Aug. 10 marked the inaugural flight of the Man on the Wing Festival at the famed Airplane Home in Hillsboro. The retired Boeing 727 parked in the woods used to be home to a man named Bruce Campbell (not the Evil Dead star) but for the past year has been an event space where people are encouraged to come make music and art. The all-day all-ages festival included sets by a string of punk bands, like festival host Veeay, along with Lone Fir Cemetery and GrrlBand (all pictured below).

Today at Shute Park in Hillsboro, amidst the towering firs, visitors will be transformed back in time. Throughout the park, the Portland Celtic Fantasy Faire will offer a time machine back to an earlier time.
