Waterford ― The police department’s Investigative Services unit last week went to 43 businesses to look for card skimmers being used to steal customers’ account information.

The inspections took place after employees at the Walmart on 155 Parkway North had notified them of one in the store on Aug. 21.

Police, who also talking to store employees to make sure they are aware of the skimmers, did not find any in the 43 businesses, Chief Marc Balestracci said Thursday.

The department had previously said it will continue to conduct random checks for skimmers.
