A new video which purports to show a Tuesday shooting that injured three people near Union Station in Downtown Denver Tuesday was posted Wednesday by an anonymous X account.

In the frantic, 11-second clip, the video appears to show a brawl at 16th and Wynkoop streets involving at least five people.

"What is happening?" the person filming the brawl can be heard saying.

However, the situation quickly escalates as one person pulls out a gun and fires at least nine shots as the person filming yells profanity.

The video was posted by Do Better Denver , an anonymous social media account that has been highly critical of Mayor Mike Johnston's administration. An administrator of the account told The Denver Gazette via direct message that the video was submitted by a follower of the Do Better Denver account.

Editor's Note: The video contains violence, gunfire and profanity and may be disturbing to some readers.

The Denver Gazette was unable to independently verify the video's authenticity.

Denver police said three men were injured in the broad-daylight shooting , one of whom was injured critically. The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in a bustling area of downtown filled with commuters and tourists near Union Station and families at the nearby restaurants and splash pad.

A glass window at the nearby Thirsty Lion Pub was shattered in the brazen attack.

On Wednesday morning, police said they arrested a juvenile male in connection with the shooting, but they continue to investigate. Investigators said they used surveillance video and witness descriptions to track and identify the suspect who was arrested for investigation of attempted first-degree murder.

Matthew Jablow, a spokesman for the Denver District Attorney's Office, said they were working to determine whether the suspect would be charged as a juvenile or an adult.

"Any instance of crime is one instance too many, and we took this issue very seriously," Denver Mayor Mike Johnston told The Denver Gazette in an email Thursday. "Our police department responded courageously and quickly. We had a suspect in custody within four hours of the shooting, and we will work to ensure people are held accountable. We are deeply focused on reducing violent gun crime in the city, and will continue to prioritize both prevention and strict enforcement for those who commit crimes.”

Despite the highly visible nature of this shooting, the mayor's office pointed to Denver Police Department crime stats that show the city has made progress reducing gun crime in the last year.

In the past year, non-fatal shootings are down 28.2%, violent gun crime is down 14% and homicides are down 8% when compared with last year, the mayor's office said.
