Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Wednesday announced before a national TV audience that he's a "Redditor" — and that caused some excitement on the local Denver subreddit.

"Look, as a Redditor, gamer, entrepreneur and Swiftie from the free state of Colorado," Polis said during his speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, "I'm excited by Kamala Harris' vision for protecting and expanding our personal freedom, internet freedom and economic freedom."

The shoutout to the community-based social media platform caught the attention of a Reddit user called u/TransTrees who started a thread about it on the r/Denver subreddit.

"I had to listen to it twice because I thought I misheard it," the Reddit user wrote. "I know he uses reddit a bit but was kind of surprised he brought it up on the DNC main state (hi governor)."

Polis' account was tagged in the comments by another Reddit user asking him to come say hi -- and wouldn't you know it, Colorado's governor started exchanging comments with people.

In one exchange, a user invited Polis to join a weekly Dungeons and Dragons game.

"Our party could use a wizard," the user said.

Polis politely declined the offer saying he plays as a cleric, not a wizard.

"It may be a flat out rejection, but this is by far my favorite Reddit conversation ever," the user responded. "And you have a standing invitation for any one-shot adventure, Mr. Cleric."

Shelby Wieman, Polis' press secretary, confirmed to The Denver Gazette in an email that the account did indeed belong to the Colorado governor.

“Governor Polis comes from a business and tech background so he is very in tune with what is happening online and has been part of online communities for many years," Wieman told The Denver Gazette. "He is very at home on the internet and meets people where they are, including on reddit, which is one of the many reasons people trust him to lead our beautiful state. He is always looking for unique ways to connect with Coloradans, and enjoys hearing directly from people about what they want to see for our great state.”

According to Polis' Reddit account stats, he joined the online community in 2011 and has more than 30,000 "post karma" and more than 100,000 "comment karma." Users can obtain "karma" when other users "up-vote" their posts and comments.

Polis generated significant wealth founding and selling internet companies, including an internet service provider, a digital greeting card company and an online flower delivery service.
