One person was seriously injured in a house fire in Aurora overnight Sunday, Aurora Fire Rescue said in a social media post on X.

According to Aurora Fire Rescue, the fire happened at about 9:40 p.m., near the intersection of Moline Street and East Highline Drive.

When crews arrived to the scene, they saw smoke billowing from a two story single-family home.

Aurora Fire said one person was injured and had been rescued by other occupants of the home before fire crews arrived. The injured patient was transported in critical condition to the hospital.

"Firefighters took fast action to extinguish the fire in the second-floor bedroom of the home while AFR’s Ladder 2 crew led searches for victims," AFR said.

A dog was rescued from the fire and revived through resuscitation procedures. No other victims were found in the home.

Twelve adults and children, as well as six pets, were displaced from the home.

The incident is under investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
