    Opening dates announced for Colorado ski areas winter 2024-25

    Colorado Ski Country USA, the trade organization representing most of the state's ski areas, has announced opening dates for the 2024-25 season.

    The dates — subject to change based on conditions — follow those announced by Vail Resorts, including Keystone Resort, which in recent years with enhanced snowmaking has tried to compete with Arapahoe Basin for first-to-open bragging rights. A-Basin kicked off the season last year on Oct. 29.

    Here's a full look at tentative opening dates:

    A-Basin: As soon as possible in October

    Keystone: As soon as possible, mid-October the hope

    Loveland, Winter Park As soon as possible, typically late October/early November

    Monarch: As soon as possible in November

    Breckenridge, Copper Mountain Nov. 8

    Vail, Eldora: Nov. 15

    Purgatory: Nov. 16

    Steamboat: Nov. 23

    Beaver Creek, Crested Butte: Nov. 27

    Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Telluride, Granby Ranch: Nov. 28

    Powderhorn: Nov. 29

    Howelsen Hill: Nov. 30

    Ski Cooper: Dec. 11

    Buttermilk: Dec. 14

    Aspen Highlands: Dec. 16

    Echo Mountain, Sunlight: As soon as possible in December
