Please, let Russell Wilson play for Steelers vs. Broncos in Week 2 | Cheers and Boos

The good and bad from the Seattle Seahawks' 26-20 win over the Broncos in Week 1 Sunday:

    CHEERS!

Credit the Seahawks. It was rarely the case in the old AFC West, but it’s true now: the Seahawks own the Broncos. Seattle won twice Sunday — 26-20 over the Broncos and with the sweet throwback jerseys that had us looking for Jon Kitna and Steve Largent. Add those “Ws” to Seattle’s other recent wins over Denver. Super Bowl XLVIII. The Russell Wilson trade. The brains of the operation in Seattle has gotten the best of the brains of the operations in Denver. Don’t blame Bo Nix, who could do without another trip to Seattle after his NFL debut. The former Oregon Duck went 0-3 against the Washington Huskies. Now he’s Bo-and-4 vs. Seattle.

    CHEERS!

The first family of football has Bo Nix’s back. First, it was patriarch Archie Manning telling our Chris Tomasson he’s a Broncos fan rooting for Nix. Then it was Peyton Manning on the Pat McAfee Show, digging into his joke bag for an annual favorite: “I want to get that (rookie) interception record broken.” The most likely options to break PFM’s record of 28 interceptions in 1998? Top rookies Caleb Williams (Bears), Jayden Daniels (Commanders) and Nix, who threw two picks on Sunday. But Peyton prefers if Williams or Daniels resets his infamous record. He's too much of a Broncos fan. “I don’t want Nix to break it,” Peyton said.

    BOO!

Midway through Nix’s NFL debut, Sean Payton approached the Broncos wide receivers with a request: “Let’s help this guy.” Good plan. How about a little help for the rookie? The Broncos had multiple dropped passes. The Broncos coach called the pass protection “average at best.” And the Broncos failed to crack 100 yards rushing — with Nix finishing as the team’s leading rusher with 35 yards. It was a pathetic display of offense that brought to mind the past decade of Broncos football. Dink. Dunk. Three yards. Penalty (eight). Punt. Yes, Nix didn’t surpass 100 yards passing until the fourth quarter. But the offense around him? Gross. A total bust.

    BOO!

Get better, Russ. Broncos Country deserves a reunion. Ex-Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson didn’t play in the Steelers’ 18-10 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He was inactive for the game with a calf injury — yet still wore his pads and uniform on the sideline. So is Russ going to be the starting quarterback when Pittsburgh plays at Denver in Week 2? “You can ask me that question on Tuesday,” coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday. Quick, everyone do your high-knees rain dance to make sure we get Russ vs. Sean at Empower Field at Mile High. The Broncos clearly don’t have the juice for a playoff run. We must take our entertainment at every chance.
